POST-TENSIONING (Buildings)

  • In situ Flat Slab / Flat Plate
  • In situ Banded Slab / Beam & Slab
  • In situ Beam with Precast Slab
  • Composite Structure with Post-tensioning

Advantages of PT Design

Through load balancing, post-tensioning enables a more efficient floor slab design as compared to the conventional reinforced beam and slab system.

In general, advantages of PT slabs over RC slabs are as follows

  • Simplified layout - faster construction
  • Shallow structure - bigger headroom
  • Reduced total reinforcement and formwork
  • Better deflection control

POST-TENSIONING (Tanks)

  • Egg-shaped digester
  • Elevated cone-shaped water tank
  • Circular post-tensioned concrete tank

In order to contain the hoop stresses induced by the storage materials in tanks / circular structures, circumferential tendons are introduced in the walls.

For stressing purposes, two (2) types of tendon arrangements can be introduced for stressing purposes:

  • With stressing blister- Regular anchorages
  • Without stressing Floating anchorages
  • For better corrosion protection, plastic ducts, galvanised strands, etc., are used
